What is the best month
to go?
Each month offers something unique. June has the longest days,
and you'll see wild
pea, rosa rugosa
and wild iris blooming on the beaches and among the rocks. July has
great weather, long days and the lobsters reappear after shedding their
shells. August is the classic summer month in Maine, and the lobster
season is in full swing. September is an undiscovered gem: very reliable,
very clear weather offers miles of visibility, and cooler evenings often
mean a cozy fire in the lodge.
What should I pack?
For clothing, bring sneakers or a Teva-type sandal. Quick-drying
slacks are helpful. A slicker is a good idea, just in case. Also, bring
along sunscreen and a good book.
